When the Bunnings store opened in our small town, we all flocked to it…
and some still do… the promise of lowest prices or beat it by 10 %….. seems like a great deal..
Then, right across the road… Masters Hardware opens…
So why should I go to Masters… both have low prices, both have plenty of parking, both have nice friendly staff… some more friendly than others, lots of variety…
For me it comes down to a few things that are only available from Masters…
Being that I can buy TiteBond III woodworking glue cheaper than in the US…
True… I received an email from Woodcraft… TiteBond III on special at US$37.99.
Not bad… it sells at Carbatec for AU$59.95…..
Now what about Masters… well…. I can buy the one US gallon jug of TiteBond III for only
AU$30.50…….
And as you can imagine I use a lot of glue…
There are a lot of other items that I can only get at Masters and others that are cheaper than anywhere else…
Love them or hate them but the big box stores are here to stay… so make the most of the cheaper prices and convenience when it is not available elsewhere…
EDIT… Just got a message that Amazon.com has TiteBond III for US$31.95 with free shipping… not that they will ship to the land down under for free…so still cheaper for me to go to Masters….

Larry, that is about what I paid at Amazon.com, with free shipping just the other day.
Smitty
just like always
shopping around pays off
some have ‘deal’ at times
then the other
go where the goods are
it changes from store to store
from time to time
As you said, you use a LOT of glue! You must get the best price to keep the profit margin up.
