Pizza anyone?

IMG_3605

Made several of these for the markets tomorrow… or should I say today… 1.12 am… at the moment…

Made from Camphor Laurel… part of the haul I got from Murwillumbah a few weeks ago…

Diameter of the main circle is 440 mm and the handle is about 120 mm long…Board is 35 mm thick… makes for a great cutting/chopping board or for just serving a great pizza…yeah.

Medal Box update…

Got a text message from Lindsay aka Roving Reporter… now repatriated to Queensland…

He was at the Bayside Woodworkers Club and…”who do you think I met”

IMG_3591 IMG_3592Colin looks as pleased as Punch…

Nice to see the finished piece and also how proud Colin is of the box…

I am very happy to have played a small part in the making of this heirloom box which will be handed down through the generations… a fitting resting place for medals hard won…

M C Escher tessellations…

Recently I was sent a link to Instructables.com…

They made an end grain tessellated chopping board… cut with a 400 W laser…

My laser is only 80 W so I cut some thinner timber…long grain Rosewood actually…

IMG_3631 IMG_3632 IMG_3633Each lizard fits into the adjacent one…

IMG_3634IMG_3635
IMG_3636They are almost impossible to glue individually… so put them together dry… used masking tape on the back and smeared glue all over… scraped it across and into the joints…

More when it is finished… [at the moment it is in a vacuum bag being glued to a 10 mm ply substrate..
