Large House Sign

This larger than usual sign was made for Jeff… the guy I get my camphor slabs from.

It is European Walnut with a length of nearly 4 feet [1200 mm] and it is just under 2 inches thick [50 mm]

IMG_2837In the laser, showing the thickness.

IMG_2835A quick pic of the laser running.

IMG_2834And now for some frivolity… a sign ordered to be put on a toilet door…

IMG_2833I think it has an ocean outlook?

Cowboys Supporter…

Not the Dallas Cowboys… the North Queensland Cowboys Rugby League…

My good mate Brad did a bit of gardening for me and as a thank you… here is the sign I made. It is Queensland Maple with a West Australian Jarrah border… over 1 metre long..  [40 inches cousins...]

IMG_2870You can probably know what the blue table is… if not more hints in the next pick…

IMG_2871Yes it is a Gifkins Dovetail Box Makers Router Table…

Now you know why the Triton Router…

IMG_2873The Triton Router is possibly the best router for a router table and certainly the best for use in the Gifkins table..IMG_2872Yup, it’s Cowboy Country…

Later I will be reviewing the Triton Router, the Gifkins Dovetail Jig and my new range of small boxes…

IMG_2862It sized up proportionally perfectly… a couple of elastic straps to help keep it taut…

Timber…

As if I do not have enough timber already… but I was tempted when I dropped by Boutique Timbers at the Brisbane Timber and Working with Wood Show last Friday.

The owner Mal did a good deal on some hairy oak, zebrano and what he said was snakewood… not real sure but it was sure pretty…

More on the reason for these exotic in the next post…

Sorry for all the suspense but it has been a long time coming..

Pics below..

IMG_2854 IMG_2855 IMG_2856Now what the heck am I going to make with these splendid timbers… You will just have to wait… till tomorrow then… Lazy Larry signing off…

This rather large second generation board started out as stripes cut at 50 degrees and glued up as shown below.
